Unfortunately, a fire broke out on Monday, December 5 at XO Hall, the original venue for its group stage. Although the fire was brought under control, it is reasonable that for an incident like the M4 to be there after such a short period of time is not commendable. Istora Senayan GBK was originally supposed to be the venue for the knockouts of the competition. However, the stage has now been moved to a smaller venue in the Tennis Indoor Stadium, located close to the previous venue.

MONTON shared the following statement: “Due to these unforeseen circumstances and in order to provide the best possible experience for fans, we have decided to move the group stage venue to Bali United Studios and the knockout stage venue to Tennis Indoor Stadium Senayan. This is done to ensure that we can provide a safe and conductive experience for our teams, fans and the gaming community.

Unfortunately for fans who have already purchased tickets, the new venues will have less seating than the original venues, in which case refunds will be issued to some ticket holders. MONTON shared that affected ticket holders for the Knockout Stage will also receive 250 MLBB in-game diamonds as compensation in addition to a refund. For reference, Istora Senayan GBK has a capacity of over 7000 while Tennis Indoor Stadium Senayan has an estimated capacity of 3300.

The M4 is due to take place in Indonesia on January 1, 2023, and will feature a prize pool of $800,000 (~£648,000). The event is the biggest MLBB event on the calendar. According to Esports Charts, its last edition, which took place in late 2021, attracted a peak audience of around 3.2m. M3 saw more peak viewers than the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 and was the fourth most viewed eSports event of 2021.
