To deter summoners who engage in intentional or unintentional leaving behaviour, Riot Games introduced the Leaver Buster system. Players who dodge and abandon their games are put in a low priority queue by the system. Players will encounter waiting times that are five, ten, or even fifteen minutes longer than usual while in the low priority queue.
On September 17, Riot added new penalties to further deter players from quitting their games. There are now additional tiers of play that feature “queue lockouts” for players who repeatedly AFK or disconnect. Players who receive this punishment are prohibited from joining a match for up to 14 days at the highest tier and up to one day at the lowest tier. Players will be automatically moved out of the unfortunate system by sticking around in your games and persevering through the low priority queue system. While the number of games played may vary depending on the player, summoners are usually put in the low priority line for five to six games.
