Though the game can be bought with Steam, it is published by EA. This means that the game will start via EA’s own launcher known as Origin. As such, both players will require Steam and Origin accounts. Making both accounts is a very simple process.

Once the game is purchased by players, they should download the game as normal. It might take some time as it is a large file. In the meantime, the second player should download the friend pass copy of the game through the Origin store. The friend pass cannot be downloaded via Steam. So, the second player should open Origin and browse for the game.
Once the game has been downloaded by both players, the person who purchased the game will be required to create a multiplayer lobby. The player sporting the friend pass cannot make the lobby, they can only connect to the lobby via an invite through Origin. The lobby can be created by selecting the “Play Online” opting in the main menu.
The two players will have to choose one character from the in-game couple. One player will play the wife May, while the other will take control of Cody. Once players have their characters chosen, they will be ready to play the game.
