The search has resumed. According to a recent update from Riot Games design manager Stephen Auker, changes originally planned to be made to Naafiri, the newest champion in League of Legends, have been put on hold. The nerfs for Naafiri were included in the Patch 13.15 preview, which Riot Games unveiled on Monday, July 24.

However, Naafiri’s name was later removed from the extended patch preview, giving players the impression that she would not be affected. The champion won’t be subjected to any nerfs in the upcoming patch, Riot has now confirmed. In LoL Patch 13.15, Riot postpones the originally scheduled nerfs for Naafiri:

“Earlier this week we said to expect nerfs, but that was anticipating that her win rate would continue to grow,” Auker said. “After a couple of days of monitoring, it’s stabilized in a healthy place so we won’t be making adjustments.”

After her initial release, Naafiri underwent a nerf to reduce some of her powerful burst damage. Her win rate at all ranks quickly dropped from the mid-50s to the high-40s as a result of nerfs to Darkin Daggers (Q), Eviscerate (E), and Call of the Pack (R). As of right now, the champion has a 51.59 percent win rate in her primary position of mid-lane, according to League stats website U.gg.

Although Naafiri has played a bit outside of the mid lane, primarily in the jungle, Riot is committed to making balanced decisions for the champion with the mid lane in mind. For the time being, Auker said, “We will mainly be focused on making sure she’s shining in mid,” and they won’t be looking to make any adjustments to the jungle-specific strategy.

Naafiri Jungle is currently the worst champion-position combination in the game, which contrasts sharply with the way she has made her presence felt in the mid-lane meta. Naafiri is ranked 229th out of 229 champ-role combos in League, according to U.gg, with a 43.69 win rate as a jungler at all ranks. Riot has stated that the champion’s juggling abilities won’t be changing anytime soon, so if you’ve been trying to make her work there, now is the time to drop her. On Wednesday, August 2, League Patch 13.15 will be released (with no Naafiri modifications).
