Valorant Sunset, the newest Riot Games map situated in Los Angeles, California, will soon be available for players to explore as Episode 7 Act 2 draws near. The map is decorated with symbols of LA life, like a neon sunset, humming food trucks, a busy freeway, and graffiti paintings displaying the talents of local artists.

Team Deathmatch maps are known for their small size and focus on three main lanes where teams constantly interact. Sunset stands out because of its distinct emphasis on controlling the mid area, in addition to its larger size and the two spike sites.

According to Valorant Lead Map Designer Joe Lansford, Sunset has a mid that is “fairly difficult to control and doesn’t really favor one team or another; it’s generally good for rifle ranges and opens up a lot of opportunities for whichever team can take it.” We anticipate that both teams will prioritize mid-control as a key component of their Sunset strategies.

Ascent’s opening and closing doors and Lotus’ airlock, which temporarily opens up player paths, are two examples of features that Sunset will contain. Sunset will include a “poison pit,” which is what makes it special, according to Lansford.

On August 23 in Los Angeles, California, during the Valorant Champions 2023 media day, Riot Games unveiled Sunset in a private session. According to Lansford, there is a certain location on the map where players who enter the poison pit will start to take damage, much as they are in a molly’s area of effect.

People who prefer drinking bubble tea will also be happy to learn that there is a store selling it on the map. As a result, Sunset was the first map to use a “Boba” callout. Below is a link to the complete video map reveal:

Similar to other Valorant maps, Sunset provides both fast and lengthy routes to the spike locations. The side that takes over the core area, though, maintains a sizable advantage because it affects how long it takes for attackers to get to the spike sites. With its horseshoe form, the mid area gives Valorant maps a novel perspective. The A site’s confined hallways and corridors will put players’ skills at close quarters combat to the test. One of the Ascent doors is at the B location. If broken, a long sight line from the B site to the mid will become available.
