After a brief hiatus from the dark and melancholic lives of assassins, Buddy Daddies has returned with a heartwarming tale of parenthood featuring Kazuki and Rei. TMS Entertainment recently aired episode 8.5, which provided a recap of the events so far for both new viewers and avid fans, even though episode 9 was originally scheduled to air last week.
The previous episode of Buddy Daddies, titled “No Sweet Without Sweat,” centred around Kazuki and Rei attending Miri’s first sports event at daycare. The doting parents enthusiastically cheered and whistled to encourage their beloved daughter. However, Kyuutaro has yet to reveal to Rei the perilous situation that Kazuki and Miri find themselves in.
Buddy Daddies fans can look forward to the release of episode 10 on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 12 am JST. The episode will be broadcasted on Tokyo MX, as well as other Japanese syndications such as BS11, Gunma TV, and Tochigi TV. In the endings of episodes 8 and 9 of Buddy Daddies, Kyuutaro receives photos of Kazuki and Miri from Ogisu and is ordered by Shigeki Suwa to gather information on the targets. Despite his adherence to the principle of never letting emotions interfere with his work, Kyuutaro appeared hesitant to accept this new job, as seen in the previous episode.
Likely, Kyuutaro will eventually confront Rei about his father’s intentions to target Kazuki and Miri. However, Rei has no desire to take over his family’s organization and has found solace in his new family and home. If Rei decides to go against his father’s will, the situation may worsen, as he now has two precious individuals to protect.
Kazuki and Rei assisted Miri with her training the day before the day-care sports tournament, and then went to Kyuutaro’s cafe to rest. Rei crept into the daycare grounds at night and reserved a site by booby-trapping it with razor wires, spike traps, and claymore mines. The next day, Kazuki was overjoyed when Rei offered to assist him in making rice cakes.
Rei was astonished by Kazuki’s popularity among other children’s mothers at daycare. Everyone took a break for lunch after the first half of the event. While the other parents were oohing and ahhing over Kazuki’s extravagant lunch, Miri and her pals were blown away by Rei’s rice balls loaded with chocolates, gummies, and choco rings.
Miri fell during the race after hearing Rei cheering for her. The latter blamed himself for Miri’s defeat in the race. At the parent-child games, Kazuki and Miri struggled to compete with others. The father-daughter team had completed the first obstacle course and were about to go on the second, a scavenger hunt.
Miri took a card from the scavenger hunt box, dashed over to Rei, and chose him as her item, and the trio won the race together. Miri later disclosed that the item mentioned in her card was “family,” leading Kazuki to sob uncontrollably. In other news, Ogisu offered Kyuutaro images of Kazuki, Rei, and Miri and reminded him not to forget his duties.
