Colombia’s Rigoberto Uran (EF Education-EasyPost) completed his Grand Tour stage grand slam with a brilliant win in Stage 17 of La Vuelta. With the win, he also rose to ninth place in the general classification. In the general classification, Evenepoel preserves his 2:01 lead over Enic Mas, who jumped to second after Primož Roglic’s withdrawal. Ayuso is a distant third at 4:51, with Rodríguez, López and Almeida there after.
With 4 stages left to go, cyclists will aim to push themselves to the limit as the tour concludes on 9th September 2022. Stage 17 was one of its flattest stages in it’s grand majority which began the start of the final week. Roglic made an eight-second gain on Evenepoel and was awarded the same time as the chasers. Stage 18 is set to get underway on Thursday, September 8 with the battle for the red jersey heating up.
