Primoz Roglic extended his lead on Remco Evenepoel on the queen stage of La Vuelta, as Thymen Arensman won his first-ever Grand Tour stage with a stunning performance. The Team DSM rider won the Queen stage of this edition which extends over 150kms from Martos to Sierra Nevada in Granada. The  three-week cycling race began on 19 August and is set to end on 11 September 2022.

Arensman made his move inside the final 8km, overtaking teammate Marc Soler to win his maiden Grand Tour stage. Monday will be a day of inactivity, before the racing returns on Tuesday with a 189.4km route from Sanlúcar de Barrameda to Tomares. The battle at the top seems to intensify with 7 more stages left to go. Evenepol will aim to open up a gap over Rogic as they move to the final leg of the tournament.
