Ruturaj Gaikwad was born on 31st January 1997. He is an Indian cricketer who plays for Maharashtra in domestic cricket and for the Chennai Super Kings in the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL). He made his international debut for Team India in July 2021 and was the highest run-getter in the 2021 Indian Premier League tournament as well. He led Maharashtra in T20 in the 2021 Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy as well.
In June 2021, Gaikwad was named in India’s One Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) squads for their series against Sri Lanka. He made his T20I debut on 28 July 2021 against Sri Lanka as well. In December 2021, Gaikwad was also named in India’s ODI squad for their series against South Africa whereas, in January 2022, he was again named in India’s ODI squad for the West Indies series as well.
In December 2018, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bought Gaikwad in the player auction for the 2019 Indian Premier League. On 2 October 2021, he scored his first IPL century, with 101* against the Rajasthan Royals. He also won the Orange Cap for scoring the most runs (635) in the 2021 IPL and was also awarded the Emerging Player of the Year award as well.
