Sanju Samson was brutally trolled on Twitter for missing another opportunity to prove his batting talent for the Indian ODI side in the first match against the West Indies.
India wicket keeper-batter Sanju Samson faced backlash from the fans on Twitter for squandering off another opportunity in the first ODI against the West Indies at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad on Friday. Samson who stepped into bat at No.5 for the visitors was sent packing for 12 runs off 18 deliveries which included one hit to the fence.
Samson made a return to the ODI squad after he played his only ODI in Sri Lanka last year. He led the Rajasthan Royals franchise to the IPL 2022 final earlier this year but his lacklustre batting performance in the first ODI has put a question mark on his selection for the national team. One of the fans on Twitter suggested that Samson is only good for the IPL while another highlighted that his saga of wasted opportunities continues.
However, Samson, was also credited for saving important runs from behind the stumps in the final over bowled by India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj which helped the visitors clinch victory by three runs and take a 1-0 lead in the series. “We good a good score in the end. There were nerves in the end and didn’t expect it to turn that way. We kept our cool and one small change in the end where we pushed the fine leg back and that really helped us. The discussion was to use the bigger side as much as we can and we want to keep on learning and make ourselves better for the rest of the competition,” Dhawan said after the match.
