Pakistan recorded a dominant victory over Namibia on Tuesday to confirm their place in the semi-finals of the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The men in green were put in to bat first and they made a mammoth total of 189-2 in 20 overs thanks to an outstanding partnership by openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam. Rizwan scored an unbeaten 79 runs and Babar made 70 runs. Namibia did not do a bad job with the bat but the Pakistan bowling attack was just strong enough. Namibia scored 144-5 in 20 overs. Pakistan really do look like a team with all the qualities to win the championship and they are certainly going in the right direction.

RIZWAN, BABAR EXCEPTIONAL

The opening partnership for Pakistan in the first innings was mammoth. Rizwan and skipper Babar constructed a 113-run stand for the first wicket to set the platform for the team to reach a huge total. Rizwan scored an unbeaten 79 runs off just 50 deliveries in an innings that included eight boundaries and four maximums. Skipper Babar also played a brilliant knock, scoring 70 runs off just 49 deliveries, hitting seven boundaries in the process.

Veteran batter Mohammad Hafeez played an explosive cameo towards the end of the innings to power the team to 189 runs. Hafeez scored 32 runs off just 16 deliveries in a knock that included five boundaries.

There were not many positives when it comes to the Namibian bowling attack as every single bowler went for runs. David Wiese picked one wicket in four overs and conceded 30 runs. Jan Frylinck also picked a wicket and conceded 31 runs in four overs.

WIESE, WILLIAMS PLAY DECENT KNOCKS FOR NAMIBIA

Wiese did an exceptional job for Namibia with the bat as he scored 43 runs off just 31 deliveries, hitting three boundaries and two maximums in the process. Craig Williams also played a fabulous knock, making 40 runs off 37 deliveries. Williams smashed five boundaries and one maximum.

Opener Stephen Baard did a decent job with the bat as he scored 29 runs off 29 deliveries, hitting one boundary and one maximum while skipper Gerhard Erasmus played a decent cameo of 15 runs off 10 deliveries.

The Pakistan bowling attack was tight and effective on the day. Imad Wasim was the most economical as he picked one wicket and conceded only 13 runs in four overs. Hasan Ali bowled a fine spell, bagging one wicket and conceding just 22 runs in four overs. Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan also picked one wicket each for the men in green.
