Team India has raced into the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-finals as the Group 2 leader. With the exception of the encounter against South Africa, the men in blue have already shown their supremacy and consistency on the big stage. It goes without saying that India’s batting has been directly and fundamentally important to the team’s performance throughout the Super 12 stage.

Except for the opener against Pakistan, the men in blue have batted first in all of their matches. Aside from the setback against the Proteas, where they only managed 133/9 on a tricky Perth pitch, they have scored more than 175 runs in all three games against the Netherlands, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe. They chased down the required mark of 160 on the penultimate ball against Pakistan.

Can Rohit find form in the semifinal?

While the Indian batting unit appears to be doing exceptionally well thus far, in reality, the entire team has been dependent on the insane consistency and astonishing genius of two individuals: Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav. Kohli and Suryakumar are among the top three T20 World Cup run scorers. Kohli has scored 246 runs in five innings, with a strike rate of 138.98. Meanwhile, Surya has 225 runs in five innings at an incredible strike rate of 193.96.

The most serious concern has been Rohit Sharma’s poor form, as the Indian captain has been struggling throughout the tournament. He has only managed 89 runs in five innings at a subpar average and strike rate of 17.80 and 109.87, respectively. While his opening partner, KL Rahul, struggled at times, he appears to have turned a corner following successive fifties against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
