It was Sri Lanka A vs Bangladesh A, 1st match of Group A in the ACC Men’s Emerging Cup. The match was played in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Many players performed well, but at the end Avishka Fernando turned out to be the most valuable player of the match. Bangladesh A won the toss and decided to field first. Bangladesh A put Sri Lankan A batters to bat, starting the bowling attack with Mahedi Hasan. Sri Lanka (A) opening batsmen Avishka Fernando and Lasith Croospulle gave a decent start. Avishka built partnerships with Lasith, Minod, Sahan and Pasindu and scored 133 runs, which is his personal best. Bangladesh A’s Ripon Mondol and Soumya Sarkar took 3,3 wickets respectively and the remaining 2 wickets were taken by two different bowlers. Sri Lanka A gave the target of 350 runs to Bangladesh A. 

Bangladesh A didn’t get the desired start in the bowling, as they got the huge target to chase. Bangladesh A main bowlers, Mahedi Hasan and Rakibul Hasan failed to deliver an impactful performance in bowling. Bangladesh A’s innings was opened by Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Mohammad Naim. They gave a decent start to the team, as their first wicket fell on 69 runs. Mohammad Naim and Saif Hassan tried to pull the match into Bangladesh’s favor, as they both hit a half century, but in the end they both failed to do so. Soumya Sarkar, put up an all round performance, as he took 3 wickets and also scored 42 runs off 46 balls. He was the most valuable player in Bangladesh A team. Pramod Madushan and Dushan Hemantha from Sri Lanka A took 3,3 wickets respectively and helped Sri Lanka A win the match by 48 runs.

The ground completely favored batsmen, as both the teams managed to score 300 plus runs. But there were 4 bowlers in the match, who managed to take 3 wickets each. Two bowlers from Bangladesh A team, Soumya Sarkar and Ripon Mondol and two bowlers from Sri Lanka A, Pramod Madushan and Dushan Hemantha, all took 3 wickets each. At the end Sri Lanka A’s bowling was more impactful as they managed to sweep all the batters of Bangladesh A team. In Sri Lanka A vs Bangladesh A, Sri Lanka A won their first match in the ACC Men’s Emerging Cup.

Avishka Fernando, right from the opening, played a solid innings for Sri Lanka A and gave them a huge target to defend. Avishka Fernando scored 133 runs from 124 balls. His innings included 14 fours and 3 sixes. Avishka Fernando is undoubtedly the most valuable player for Sri Lanka A in this match, as he stayed and built small partnerships with several other players to give Sri Lanka a huge target to defend against a tough opponent like Bangladesh A. This was Avishka’s personal best score in a limited overs game.
