It was Somerset vs Essex, T20 final of the Vitality Blast T20 tournament. This is one of the toughest T20 leagues around the world as there are no gaps between semi finals and finals. The 2 semi finals were Somerset vs Surrey and Essex vs Hampsire. Somerset and Essex won their respective matches and the stage for Somerset vs Essex for the finals was set. Many players performed well in the finals but the question is who amongst all turned out to be the most valuable player of the match? Essex, after winning the toss chose to field first. Tom Banton and Will Sameed opened the innings for Somerset. Shane Snater, who opened the bowling attack for Essex took both the wickets of Somerset openers and put Somerset into pressure. 

In the Somerset vs Essex, T20 Blast finals, Sean Dickson, a Somerset player, held the innings for them and scored a valuable half century. Sean Dickson turned out to be the most valuable player of the first innings. Essex got 146 runs to chase down. Adam Rossington and Dan Lawrence, from Essex opened the innings for them. They both gave a decent start to the team but Matt Henry eliminated both of them with his skillful bowling. Michaell Pepper, 1st down batsman and Robin Das, 2nd down batsman, both got out in quick succession. Matt Henry took down the 4 most important wickets of Essex and topped the list of becoming the most valuable player of the match.

Daniel Sams, in the second innings of Somerset vs Essex, T20 Blast finals played a very crucial innings. He scored 45 runs in just 26 balls and turned out to be Essex’s most valuable player. Daniel Sams’ innings came to an end when he gave a catch on Matt Henry’s bowling. Lewis Gregory of Somerset also took two important wickets for them. Ish Sodhi, a spinner took 3 wickets for Somerset. Essex managed to score only 131 runs and lost all their wickets. Somerset won the match by 14 runs and also the Vitality Blast 2023 title.

Matt Henry also made one important catch of Robin Das on Craig Overton bowling.
