The Selam franchise have had an awful season last time, winning only one match and finishing at the bottom. On the other hand, the Chepauk Super Gillier were crowned joint winners of TNPL 2022 with Lyca Kovai Kings as rain played spoilsport in the grand finale. Before the mega auction in February 2023, the Spartans retained M Ganesh Moorthi, while the Super Gillies retained Uthirasamy Sasidev and Narayan Jagadeesan.
Kaushik Gandhi, who led CSG last time, will be leading the Salem franchise this season. Wicket-keeper R Kavin can have a breakthrough season and will be a player to watch out for from the Salem side. Talking about the Super Gillies, they have a new captain in the form of Baba Aparajith and retained players Jagadeesan and Sasidev provide solid support to the skipper. Sanjay Yadav, the former Mumbai Indians all-rounder, has been an excellent addition to the set-up after they released Gujarat Titans spinner R Sai Kishore. They also let go of players like R Sonu Yadav, Sandeep Warrier, and Manimaran Siddharth and bought M Silambarasan and Rahil Shah, strengthening the team.
