Tamil Nadu opening batter Sai Sudharsan’s purple patch continues, his unbeaten knock of 62 took the Gujarat Titans over the line in their second match of the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League. The 21-year-old came in as an impact player for the injured Kane Williamson in the season opener against CSK and has cemented his place in the team now. The left-hand batter has had a couple of fantastic seasons, he played some crucial contributions to the success of Gujarat Titans in the 2022 season, where they emerged as champions. Gujarat Titans also opted to retain him for the 2023 season and the decision has proved to be fruitful till now.

Sudharsan and GT’s impact player Vijay Shankar batted really well to calm the nerves of the dugout with a traditional batting approach. Sudharsan played a brilliant ramp shot over the keeper off Nortje which changed the momentum towards Gujarat Titans and he got to his second IPL fifty as well. Vijay and Sai added a crucial 53-run partnership for the fourth wicket which laid a brilliant platform for David Miller to come and unleash with a cameo which took the Titans over the line.

Sai Sudharsan’s mother travels 500 kms to watch him play

The Left-hand batter from Tamil Nadu got to his maiden List-A century in Alur during the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Sudharsan’s innings had added significance because his mother, Usha Bharadwaj, was there to watch him bat, having made the 500-kilometre trip from Chennai to watch her son play, this was one of the many games she had come to watch her son play.

Sai Sudharsan had a fantastic 2022 season with the Gujarat Titans, he notched up 145 runs in the 5 innings, which included a couple of match-winning knocks as well. Sudharsan opens the batting for Tamil Nadu and he had a magnificent season getting scores of 121 off 109, 73 off 75 and 49 off 38. The left-hand batter has gone from strength to strength and has become an important cog in both the Gujarat Titans and Tamil Nadu’s lineup. If he continues this way, the Indian cap won’t be far away from his scalp.
