Mumbai Indians will lock horns with the Chennai Super Kings in the 12th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 at the Wankhade Stadium in Mumbai. CSK got to their first points of the season after defeating Lucknow Super Giants by 12 runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad as brilliant with the bat and the bowlers backed him really well. Tushar Deshpande, who was wayward in the first outing came back strong enough to defend 28 runs off the final over. Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja and Santner was brilliant in setting up CSK’s first victory. Sisanda Magala has joined the squad after completing his national duties for South Africa.

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians have had a poor start to the tournament but they are playing their first game at home today and have a brilliant record. Mumbai Indians are coming off a poor display against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Bengaluru. Put into bat, the MI were off to a poor start losing four wickets for just 48 runs. This top-order collapse will be a concern and the team will be looking to do better in this crucial encounter. Cameron Green wasn’t able to produce the goods in his first IPL game after being sold at a huge price alongside Ishan Kishan who also failed to impress. Tilak Varma was very impressive and would look to continue with the same form. This game has all the makings of going down to the wire and promises to be very entertaining.

Pitch

The pitch at the Wankhade Stadium in Mumbai has traditionally supported spin bowling. The batters have found it easy to get quick runs against spinners at this venue. The ball might do a little bit for the fast bowlers in the initial stages of the match as well, but it will get easier to bat as the match progresses. The batters need to get their eye in before going for the aggressive shots. The team winning the toss would be inclined to bowl first at this venue and chase the score down in the second innings with some dew expected.
