IPL: Jaiswal hits 49, Arshdeep takes five as Rajasthan Royals set 186 target for Punjab Kings

It was a relatively comfortable charge for the Royals to score and it could have been an even bigger one. PBKS did a good job in picking a few quick wickets towards the end of the innings.

A strong batting display by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) saw them reach the mammoth score of 185 against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Tuesday. Both sides are playing their first match in the second phase of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). It was a relatively comfortable charge for the Royals to score and it could have been an even bigger one. PBKS did a good job of picking a few quick wickets towards the end of the innings. The charge was led by Mohammad Shami and Arshdeep Singh. The latter took a brilliant five-wicket haul to wrap up the RR innings before the end of the full 20 overs. However, 185 is still a massive score and it will be a hugely difficult task for KL Rahul’s men.

ARSHDEEP BAGS FIFER

At one point, the Royals were 164-4 and they must have thought about a 200-plus score but Shami and Arshdeep had other ideas. Veteran bowler, Shami, picked three wickets in his four overs and conceded only 21 runs. Arshdeep was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged an incredible five-wicket haul in his four overs. The young pacer conceded 32 runs. Spinner Harpreet Brar also had a good game with the ball as he bowled three very tight overs of spin. Brar picked one wicket in three overs and conceded only 17 runs.

JAISWAL PLAYS MEMORABLE KNOCK

There were a number of stars for the men in pink with the bat. Openers Evin Lewis and Yashasvi Jaiswal gave the team a good foundation on which they built towards that massive score. Lewis took the charge from the get-go and scored a quickfire 36 off 21 deliveries. 19-year-old Jaiswal, on the other hand, played the long game. He just fell short of his half-century as he was dismissed on 49 by Brar. He took 36 deliveries to get to the score.

Mahipal Lomror was another player who really shined for the Royals on the day. Lomror played the aggressor of the innings as he scored 43 runs off 17 deliveries. He hit two fours and four sixes in the innings. Liam Livingstone also played a good knock as he scored 25 runs off 17 deliveries.
