Taskin Ahmed has repeatedly proven his worth with his wicket-taking and economical bowling. With his great bowling accomplishments, he has been a constant player for the squad in the last three multi-nation events. Taskin took eight wickets in five games at an economy rate of 7.27 during the T20 World Cup 2022. With his current bowling form, he could command a sizable sum from franchises at the mini-auction set to be held on December 23. Taskin was reportedly approached by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 2022 season as a replacement for English speedy Mark Wood, but the Bangladesh quick was unable to join the league due to international commitments. Here are the three teams which might like to include Taskin in their squad for IPL 2023.

Lucknow Super Giants

The team signed Andrew Tye as a substitute for Mark Wood for the 2022 season, but the 36-year-old failed to impress with the ball. However, for the upcoming season, LSG would like to add venom to their bowling attack and may go for the Bangladesh pacer. If the franchise purchases the 27-year-old cricketer this year, he will be an excellent addition to the team. His combination with Mohsin Khan has the potential to be dangerous for opponents, as both bowlers have the ability to deliver early breakthroughs. If Mark Wood is fit and available then LSG will have a formidable bowling lineup.

Chennai Super Kings

CSK signed Chris Jordan in 2022, but he only took two wickets at an expensive economy rate of 10.52 in four matches. Ahmed, on the other side, has routinely given frugal spells in recent series. With the speculation that Jordan may be released prior to the auction, the 27-year-old bowler could be the finest option for the franchise. If Adam Milne is not fit then Taskin could be good addition alongside Mukesh and Deepak Chahar.

Punjab Kings

The team had faith in Jamaican cricketer, Odean Smith, last season, but the West Indies all-rounder failed to impress with the ball. Given Smith’s dismal performance, the Kings could acquire Taskin during the auction. The addition of the Bangladesh bowler strengthens the team’s bowling unit. His ability to deliver breakthroughs in the first overs could be a good reason for his selection. With the likes of Rabada and Arshdeep already there Punjab can get their all bases covered with the addition of Taskin.
