An incredible comeback in the final over by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ensured that the Rajasthan Royals (RR) did not reach a humongous score on Monday in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The bowler who did the job for the men in orange in the final over of the first innings was Siddharth Kaul. The pacer dismissed RR skipper Sanju Samson who was in dangerous form on the day as he made 82 runs off just 57 deliveries. Samson played a captain’s knock as he scored exactly half of the runs RR put up on the board. The SRH bowling unit could not really keep up with RR’s batting prowess but they did an exceptionally good job towards the end to restrict the men in blue to 164 runs.

Royals’ opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played a useful knock at the top of the order which set up the platform for the rest of the batters to build their respective innings. Jaiswal made 36 runs off 23 deliveries in a knock that included five boundaries and one maximum. His opening partner Evin Lewis, however, could not make an impact as he could only manage to score six runs off four deliveries.

SANJU SAMSON SHOWS HIS CLASS

After the West Indian’s dismissal, it was skipper Sanju Samson who ran the show. The wicket-keeper batter scored a massive 82 runs off just 57 deliveries. Samson has been in good form since the competition restarted in the UAE and he will be hoping it would help RR get into one of the play-off spots. Despite being the inaugural champions of the IPL, RR have not performed particularly well in any of the seasons since.

Middle-order batter Mahipal Lomror has come into his own this season as he scored a steady knock of 29 runs from 28 deliveries that helped Samson play his natural game. However, he could not help the Royals get to a bigger score after his captain’s dismissal. Riyan Parag and Rahul Tewatia could not get off the mark.

The SRH bowlers were hit around the park for the most part of the innings but they made a good comeback towards the end. Siddharth Kaul did an incredible job in the final over as he dismissed Samson and Parag. Kaul finished his spell with two wickets in his four overs and he conceded 36 runs.

Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar did a fine job with the ball as he picked one wicket and conceded only 28 runs in his four overs. Rashid Khan and Sandeep Sharma also picked one wicket each for the men in orange.
