Despite a strong start to the innings by the Rajasthan Royals (RR), the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) made a commendable comeback to restrict the men in pink to just 149 runs on Wednesday in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). RR had started the game quite positively, scoring 77 runs without losing a single wicket. The openers did a fine job as Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 31 runs and Evin Lewis made an impressive 58. The Royals finished their innings with a score of 149-9. It was a late comeback for the RCB bowlers who were smashed around the park in the initial part of the innings by the two RR openers. It will be interesting to see how RCB chases down what seems like a modest total on a slow track.

JAISWAL, LEWIS FIRE FOR RR

The RR charge was led by both the openers. Youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal kept his good run of form going as he scored 31 runs off just 22 deliveries in a knock that consisted of three boundaries and a couple of maximums. However, the star of the show was West Indian cricketer Evin Lewis. Lewis made a magnificent half-century as he scored 58 runs off just 37 deliveries in a knock comprising five boundaries and three maximums.

Skipper Sanju Samson also played a useful cameo as he scored 19 runs off 15 deliveries. However, there was no one else for the men in pink who could do a good job with the bat. At one point, it seemed as though the Royals would cruise to a 170-plus score but that has not been the case.

FINE COMEBACK BY RCB

Despite being frustrated in the first part of the innings, the RCB bowlers staged a fine comeback. Harshal Patel was once again the star of the show as he picked three wickets for 34 runs in his four overs. Yuzvendra Chahal was economical as he picked two wickets and conceded just 18 runs in two overs. Shahbaz Ahmed also picked up a couple of wickets. George Garton and Dan Christian picked one wicket each for the men in red.
