Mumbai Indians (MI) have found the going a tad tough in the 2021 edition of the IPL. The Rohit Sharma-led unit lost their last two matches and are hanging in the middle of the points table with two wins from five games.

In their next match, the five-time IPL champions would be facing Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 29 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Royals, on the other hand, are placed seventh in the points table. However, the six-wicket win over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) should give them a whole lot of confidence.

Another win will take them to fourth in the table. On the head-to-head count, both MI and RR are locked on 12 wins each and a cracking encounter seems to be on the cards for Thursday at the national capital.

Here are the Top 5 Key Battles:

Jos Butler- Trent Boult

RR opener Jos Buttler is yet to fire in this IPL but he is just one big knock away from hitting his form. When he does that, we all know how dangerous he can be. The dashing England batsman has been getting starts but has failed to convert them into big scores.

Left-arm pacer Trent Boult can trouble Buttler with his variations. Boult possesses a well-disguised slower ball and Buttler will definitely look to take him on. While the left-armer has the ability to pick up wickets, he can also be expensive. Fans will be in for a good cat-and-mouse contest when the two face off.

Kieron Pollard- Shreyas Gopal

The MI middle order batsman has had a very mixed IPL this season, he has only managed to score 65 runs in the 5 matches played. MI will need Pollard to start firing to reach the playoffs. Coming into bat in the death overs, Pollard has constantly delivered cameos that have made the difference between victory and defeat.

It goes without saying that Pollard will look to hit him out of the attack as well. However, Gopal has troubled the likes of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the past. With the ball spinning away from them, Pollard will have to take that additional risk for reward.

Rahul Tewatia- Rahul Chahar

Tewatia made headlines when he smashed five sixes in an over against KXIP this season to help RR chase down a record target of 224 runs. He has not been able to score big since then and will be looking to change that against MI.

Rahul Chahar has been the best bowler for Mumbai Indians and has picked up 9 wickets while bowling at an average of 15 and an economy rate of 6.85. He will be hoping to repeat the feat and derail Rajasthan batting line-up.

Sanju Samson- Jasprit Bumrah

Samson, would be raring to go against MI as he failed to perform in the last two games and got dismissed for single-digit scores. However, Samson will be confident of finding his form back against MI as he is the leading run-scorer for RR in matches against Mumbai, with 431 runs.

Meanwhile, India star pacer Jasprit Bumrah did not got off to the best of starts in IPL 2021. He is struggling to get back to his best but the pacer is just a performance away from finding his rhythm and being at his lethal best, especially in death overs.

Rohit Sharma- Chetan Sakariya

One of the best limited-overs batsmen, Rohit Sharma will be up against the young Saurashtra bowler Chetan Sakariya.

The MI skipper has been inconsistent with the bat so far in the tournament and he will be aiming to rectify that. However, Rohit is striking the ball well and that does not bode well for the opposition.

Chetan Sakariya has been amongst the wickets this season, he has managed to pick up 7 wickets with best figures of 3/31. His variations have troubled one of the best batsmen in this IPL. It will be interesting to see how Rohit goes about him.
