India's performance in Pink Ball Tests

India has played 4 pink-ball match tests so far and has done exceedingly well, having won 3 of the 4 matches that they have played. India played their first pink ball test against Bangladesh in 2019 and went on to win the match by an innings and 46 runs at Kolkata. The next pink ball test was played against Australia in Adelaide where India lost by 8 wickets. India went on to win their 3rd pink-ball test against England in Ahmedabad by 10 wickets and the most recent pink-ball test win came against Sri Lanka in Bangalore earlier this year in March. The credit has to go to some of the senior players who have stood up and put in valuable contributions towards the team’s success.

Virat Kohli has been one of India’s most consistent performers in test cricket, he has scored ample of runs in red-ball test cricket and has gone on to top the charts of the highest run-getters for India in Pink ball tests with 277 runs in 4 test matches. Shreyas Iyer has been India’s second-highest run-scorer with 159 runs when it comes to Pink-ball tests. Iyer has shown why he is such an important part of the side. Iyer has bailed out India from tough situations and has put them in the driver’s seat. The last test pink match was played against Sri Lanka in Bangalore.

He smashed 4 sixes and 10 fours in his knock of 92 and took the Indian total beyond 250 in the first innings and scored 67 runs in the second inning, ensuring India get over the line. Ravichandran Ashwin is well known to cause a lot of problems to the batters with a red ball in hand but he has fared well in the pink ball tests as well. His ability to pick up wickets and contribute with bat has been crucial in India’s success in pink-ball tests.
