Pakistan set India a target of 160 at the end of a tumultuous inning. India won on the last ball of the match. There were so many distinct phases in that innings, with both sides trading blows, starting with that superb spell from the Indian seamers in the powerplay. They had the fresh ball hooping around. Both Bhuvneswar and Arshdeep Singh bowled tight lines.

Arshdeep got rid of both Babar and Rizwan quickly. Pakistan rallied back via Iftikhar and Masood. Iftikhar took on the spinners, blasting three sixes off an Axar Patel over on his route to fifty. Their partnership set the stage for a massive finish, but India returned strongly with a handful of wickets, primarily due to Pakistan trying to drive the tempo too early.

India v Pakistan: T20 World Cup 2022: Virat Kohli’s innings took India over the line

India were dead and buried at 30 for 4. But then a hundred-run partnership between Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya took India close to the chase. India needed 48 from 3 overs and that is when Kohli unleashed himself. India needed 28 runs from 8 balls when Kohli hit two sixes to change the game.

The game ebbed and flowed in the last over as well. With Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik got out in the 20th over but then Virat Kohli hit a six off a no-ball and the game came in India’s favour again. India will next face one of the qualifiers on the 27th of October.
