Today’s ICC World Cup 2023 match between India and Afghanistan in Delhi has prompted the Delhi Traffic Police to release a traffic advisory for commuters. The match, scheduled for Wednesday at 2:00 pm, will lead to diversions and restrictions on certain routes surrounding the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The advisory highlights that Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and JLN Marg will be subject to diversions or restrictions. Specifically, buses and large vehicles will not be allowed on routes connecting Guru Nanak Chowk to Asaf Ali Road and Daryaganj to Bahadurshah Zafar Marg.

Commuters are urged to steer clear of the following roads: Rajghat to JLN Marg, JLN Marg from Kamla Market roundabout to Rajghat, Asaf Ali Road from Turkman Gate to Delhi Gate, and Bahadurshah Zafar Marg from Ramcharan Aggarwal Chowk to Delhi Gate. The advisory also emphasizes that there is limited parking available for pre-identified vehicles near the stadium. It’s mandatory for these vehicles to display a parking label on the windshield, including the vehicle number. Vehicles lacking a valid parking label will not be allowed in the stadium vicinity.

Car parking label holders are advised to take routes via Ring Road, JLN Marg, Asaf Ali Road, or Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, with a ‘U’ turn permitted at Delhi Gate. The advisory specifies that parking is strictly prohibited on Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, JLN Marg, and Ring Road between Rajghat and IP Flyover in both directions. Vehicles parked on these roads will be towed and penalized as per the law. For spectators and vehicles without labels, park and ride facilities are available. The advisory also notes that spectators using app-based taxis and other taxi services should drop off and pick up passengers in the service lane on Ring Road between IP Flyover and Rajghat crossing.

It will be interesting to see who wins the game at the Feroz Shah Kotla. India definitely has the upper hand but with both teams well-matched, the match promises to be a very entertaining one. The action starts at 2:00 PM on the 11th of October 2023.
