SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper David Warner on Wednesday, became the first player to score 50 half-centuries in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Warner achieved this unique distinction during an IPL 2021 league encounter against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The 34-year-old completed his half-century off 49 deliveries, in an innings comprising of three boundaries and two sixes.

Shikhar Dhawan is placed on the second spot in the list of players to have recorded the most half-centuries in the cash-rich league. Dhawan has registered 43 half-centuries in the IPL, followed by Virat Kohli. Kohli has accounted for 40 half-centuries in the cash-rich league. The RCB skipper is followed by Rohit Sharma and AB de Villiers, who have recorded the same number of half-centuries as Kohli. This rounds off the top-five list.

Records Galore

Warner has also completed 200 sixes in the IPL, becoming the eighth player overall and the fourth overseas cricketer to reach the milestone. Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, and Kieron Pollard are the other overseas players to have reached the milestone.

Not only this, the 34-year-old further became the first player to accumulate 4,000 runs in the IPL for the Hyderabad-based franchise. The Australian is overall the sixth cricketer to reach the milestone for a single IPL team after Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma.

Warner has been on a record-breaking spree during the course of the game against CSK, as evident from yet another milestone. The Australian became only the second left-handed batsman after Chris Gayle to reach the milestone of 10,000 T20 runs.

The Hyderabad-based franchise has emerged victorious in only one game out of a total of five so far. The triumph was recorded against Punjab Kings (PBKS). They are currently at the bottom of the table having accumulated only two points.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) are the franchise placed on the second-last spot in the league standings, after two wins and three losses in the same number of games as SRH. CSK have won four games out of a total of five, with their sole defeat record in the league opener against Delhi Capitals (DC).
