CSK will look to make two wins in a row at the Chepauk, they have been one of the hardest teams to defeat at home.
Chennai Super Kings will be back playing at home in their fourth match of the season, they will lock horns with the Rajasthan Royal in the seventeenth match of the Indian Premier League 2023 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, on Wednesday, 12th of April. In the inaugural match of the season, Chennai Super Kings lost against the defending champions, Gujarat Titans by five wickets. However, they bounced back well and won their next two games against Mumbai Indians and the Lucknow Super Giants. CSK will look to make two wins in a row at the Chepauk, they have been one of the hardest teams to defeat at home.
On the other hand, Sanju Samson had led the team well, they got off to a confident start after winning encounters against Delhi Capitals and the Sunrisers Hyderabad convincingly. The likes of Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shimron Hetmyer have done the bulk of run scoring. The lack of runs from Samson and Riyan Parag is a bit of a worry. The bowling unit is led by Trent Boult, Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal who have been very impressive, which might also see the inclusion of Adam Zampa, given the spin-friendly conditions at Chepauk.

The pitch at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk has traditionally supported spin bowling. The batters have found it tough to get quick runs against spinners at this venue. The ball might do a little bit for the fast bowlers in the initial stages of the match as well, but it will get easier to bat as the match progresses. The batters need to get their eye in before going for the aggressive shots. The team winning the toss would be inclined to bowl first at this venue and chase the score down in the second innings with some dew expected.
