The hosts Australia are the defending champions for the T20 World Cup 2022. Australia will take on Sri Lanka in match 19 at the Optus stadium Perth on October 25.

There are other heavyweights like India, England, Pakistan who are set to make the event more competitive. The twelve teams that advanced to the Super 12 of the 2021 ICC T20 WC automatically qualified for the 2022 WC.

Australia lost their first game against New Zealand while Srilanka won their first game against Ireland. The tournament was supposed to begin in July 2020, but due to the Covid-19 situation, it was pushed back to 2022.
