On Saturday, Australia will face England in the second One-Day International (November 19). The hosts won the opening ODI by six wickets and now lead the three-match series 1-0. A win in the second One-Day International will help Australia win the series. England will look to make a comeback in the second ODI and keep the series alive. Except for Dawid Malan, who scored 134, none of England’s batters were able to take part in the opener. In the battering department, Jason Roy and captain Jos Buttler must take greater responsibility. Their bowling looked frail as the Australian openers amassed 147 runs in a 288-run chase. Australia, on the other hand, would feel confident following a convincing victory.
Australia dominated the opening ODI, with their bowling and batting working in tandem. The performance of David Warner was the most encouraging for Australia. After struggling for form in the T20 World Cup, the southpaw anchored a tough run-chase of 288 well with a fighting 86. Travis Head and Steven Smith were instrumental in his success. Bowlers also did a good job, taking regular wickets. Skipper Cummins enjoyed a strong start to his ODI captaincy debut and would like to see the same from his team in the second ODI.
