Rohit Tokas will face Ghana's Alfred Kotey in the Round of 16 of the men’s Welterweight at the Commonwealth Games 2022.
Rohit will represent India in the men’s Welterweight category (Over 63.5 kg- 67 kg) at the Commonwealth Games 2022. He will feature against Alfred Kotey of Ghana in the Round of 16. Rohit made it to the Indian squad after emerging victorious in the trials held for the quadrennial event.
The 29-year-old pugilist has had an injury-prone career. He missed out on a Tokyo Olympics and World Championships berth due to back-to-back injuries. First, he suffered a ligament injury in 2018 which landed him out of the squad. Then, he had to go through ligament injuries in both knees in 2019. However, he underwent successful knee surgery before the Covid-19 virus affected the world. Rohit even contracted the virus and got a shoulder injury, but it didn’t stop him from making a solid comeback.
