Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain will face Rossie Eccles of Wales in the Quarter Final of Women's Light Middleweight.

With the Olympic medal under her possession, Lovlina Borgohain will now be focusing to win her first Gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022. Lovlina stormed into the Quarters of women’s light middleweight (over 66 kg-70 kg) beating New Zealand’s Arianne Nicholson. She will next face Rossie Eccles of Wales in the Quarter Final.
The pugilist is a two-time Bronze medallist at the Women’s World Boxing Championships. She is the first female boxer and the second athlete from Assam to represent India at the Olympics. She got the better of Chinese Taipei’s Nien-Chin Chen 4-1 in the QF and assured India a medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Lovlina even owns two Asian Championships Bronze medals. This will be Lovlina’s second Commonwealth Games. She represented India at the Gold Coast in 2018 but lost against Sandy Ryan who went on to win the Gold.

The Quarter-final bout between Lovlina Borgohain and Rosie Eccles is scheduled to start from 12:30 am (IST) on August 4, 2022.
Rohit Tokas stormed into the QF with a unanimous victory over Alfred Kotey in men’s 67 kg. Boxer Amit Panghal advanced to the men’s flyweight Quarters in a unanimous decision against Namri Berri. Featherweight pugilist Mohammed Hussamuddin entered the Quarters with a 5-0 win against Bangladesh’s Salim Hossain in the pre-quarters. Ashish Kumar put up a dominant show over Travis Tapatuetoa with a 5-0 unanimous verdict win. However, boxers Sanjeet and Shiva Thapa crashed out of the quadrennial event in the Round of 16.
