World championship silver medallist Amit Panghal out-punched Scotland’s Lennon Mulligan in a unanimous decision. In the quarter-final bout, Amit tired his Scottish opponent through his rock-solid defense and responded with infrequent yet powerful counter-attacks. With this win, he advanced to the semi-final of the men’s flyweight and confirmed a medal for India. This will be Amit’s second medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Amit had bagged a silver medal after losing to Galai Yafai of England in the men’s flyweight finals at Gold Coast 2018. The 26-year-old is an Asian Games gold medallist which he achieved in Jakarta, Indonesia. Amit also became the first male boxer to win Silver in the World Boxing Championships in 2019.
