Wyndham Basketball vs Mckinnon Cougars Big-V Australia Playoffs game will be held on August 13. The Wallan Panthers are calling on all basketball fans in Wallan and beyond to support them this weekend as three of their four Big V teams begin their championship runs. After placing in the top six, Wallan’s senior division two men’s and women’s teams, as well as its youth league division two women, will play elimination finals. However, despite an impressive 107-102 overtime victory over Chelsea on Saturday, the youth league division two men were not able to advance. On Saturday night, the Panthers’ men will play Sherbrooke in an away final, while the Panthers’ women and youth league women will host Gippsland United and Whittlesea, respectively.
The president of Wallan, Tracy Connors, praised the efforts of all the teams and urged the community to support the women’s teams by fostering a positive home-court environment. Annett stated that despite nearly losing to the Suns twice this season, the squad felt optimistic about facing Sherbrooke a third time. After defeating Coburg 75-62 in the season’s last round, women’s coach Carey Papanicolaou was upbeat about his team’s prospects. Despite the Panthers’ injuries and player absences during the season, according to Papanicolaou, the players’ devotion to the team never faltered.
