Turkey vs Poland: 2022 International Friendly Games match will be held on August 14. According to Harris Stavrou of Sport24, Giannis Antetokounmpo will not play in tonight’s friendly match versus Spain because of knee inflammation. In order to be prepared for the upcoming matches, the national team officials opted to preserve the Greek Freak, according to the report. The Greek Basketball Federation quickly provided confirmation of the information, citing “precautionary considerations.” The second of two games between Greece and Spain will take place tonight. The game will be played in Madrid’s sold-out WiZink Center (19:30 CEST). Giannis is no longer on the team, therefore Greece will start 13 players against Spain. Georgios Papagiannis and Kostas Sloukas are still out injured for the Greek National Team.

Giannis Antetokounmpo improved his personal scoring record with the Greek national team while dominating Spain in the opening game of the training cycle. In the last nine minutes of their pre-EuroBasket friendly game at OAKA, Greece was leading Spain 66-57 when Giannis Antetokounmpo snatched a defensive rebound following Jaime Fernandez’s failed floater. The premier player for the Milwaukee Bucks tried a coast-to-coast, which resulted in a foul and a trip to the free-throw line. 16,000 people cheered as though they had seen something spectacular. The (large) arena was filled with the sound of the cry “MVP, MVP.” A gesture seen extremely infrequently in Greek sporting events was the audience rising to their feet for a rousing round of applause. Greek supporters scrambled to reserve seats at OAKA so they could witness their national team, Giannis play live after three years, and the 2019 Acropolis Tournament matches. The Greek Freak gave the spectators their money’s worth with 31 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists.
