The NH Ostrava vs Opava will take on each other in Europe Federal Cup on September 11, i.e on Sunday. The Turkish Basketball Federation made the decision to take severe action after FIBA rejected Turkey’s objection to the match against Georgia two days prior. The governing body of Turkish basketball has opted to challenge FIBA before an international Court of Arbitration for Sport, according to the federation’s official statement (CAS). According to the official statement, “We as the Turkish basketball federation criticize the decision to reject the appeal of the rule mistake we made at the conclusion of the contest for the 22-second lost time.” “We do not accept this FIBA judgment that the objection was dismissed.”
The federation says, “We will pursue all of our legal options with regard to the judgment rendered by the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)”. FIBA determined that despite the timekeeping error, the Turkish national team did not provide sufficient evidence to establish that it would have changed the result of the game. “We think that European basketball will deteriorate from its current position if FIBA, which has a say in the management of basketball in Europe, does not create a fair management climate,” the team said. Furkan Korkmaz was assaulted by three Georgian players and two Georgian guards when he entered the locker room during the game. The event is currently under investigation by FIBA. In the event that the incident’s video is not made public, the TBF has threatened to leave the competition.
