Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving combined for 54 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds, helping the Nets steal game 2 from the Bucks by 125-89.
The Brooklyn Nets were without James Harden for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Milwaukee Bucks but, it made no difference as the Nets took control early courtesy Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. The Nets cruised to a 125-86 victory to take a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven series.

Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant were masterful for the Nets. The duo combined for 54 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds. Meanwhile, for the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo led with 18 points but his contributions were not even enough to make the game feel close.
Kevin Durant had another terrific game, finishing with 32 points, four rebounds and six assists on 12 of 18 from the field. The Bucks had no answer for him. Even Giannis was getting lit up by crossovers and step-back jumpers. Kyrie Irving put up 22 points, five rebounds and six assists as the Nets shot 50 percent from three-point land.

Durant and Irving were unstoppable for the Nets. They went 21 of 42 from three-point land to set a new franchise record for made three-pointers in a playoff game. Each of them hit four and nine different players knocked down at least one 3-pointer in the game.

It wasn’t a great night for the Bucks, but sometimes it really feels like the Nets were unstoppable, and Game 2 was the latest example.

In the entire history of the NBA playoffs, 430 teams have found themselves trailing 2-0 in a series. Only 28 of those teams managed to make a comeback, and none of them were playing the 2021 Nets, who have arguably the meanest offensive talent.
Milwaukee looked disinterested in the end. They emptied their bench with about 9 minutes remaining. The former MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo did not play the fourth quarter. The lead grew as big as 49 at one point.

With the win, Brooklyn takes all the momentum into Game 3 as the series is set to shift to Milwaukee. We’ll find out soon about Harden’s fitness for game 3, but after what we saw in game 2, it might not make much of a difference if the Bucks can’t sort their issues out.
