The Minnesota Lynx will head to the Mohegan Sun Arena for a WNBA matchup against the Connecticut Sun on Sunday, August 14th. This is going to be a crucial encounter for the Lynx as their road to the playoffs is at stake in this game.

They are headed into the matchup on the back of a thumping loss to the Seattle Storm. Aerial Powers scored 18 points for them on the night. Sylvia Fowles had a double-double as she scored 13 points and grabbed 12 boards on the night. Despite these efforts, the Lynx failed to get the better of the Storm and lost 96-69 to make their road to the playoffs a tough one. They are now ninth in the standings. Other teams like New York Liberty and Phoenix Mercury are above them. However, if the Lynx want to have any chance of qualifying they will have to not only win but hope for the other teams to lose their games.

Their opponents for the night are a stellar Connecticut Sun team, who have already qualified for the playoffs as the third seed. They are coming into the game after a dominant 93-69 loss to the LA Sparks. Alyssa Thomas led the way for them with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Brionna Jones had an amazing impact off the bench as she scored 16 points and grabbed 8 boards in just 18 minutes. Jonquel Jones and DeWanne Bonner also made their presence felt as they recorded 17 and 13 points respectively. In the end, the win came after a team effort. The Sparks tried their level best to pull a comeback, but their depleted side was not enough to stop a stellar Suns team.

Injury Report

The Minnesota Lynx will take the court on Sunday, without their forward Damiris Dantas. Meanwhile, the Connecticut Sun will also miss Bria Hartley, who is ruled out of the season due to an ACL injury.
