This week, the Manawatu Jets play one of their home games away from home in an effort to defeat the Franklin Bulls once more. In a Manawatu home game, the Jets take on the Bulls at Te Wnanga o Raukawa’s Ng Purapura gym in Taki. The Jets played five games at Springvale Stadium in Whanganui in 2018 and 2019, however, the coach Natu Taufale said that both Arena 2 and Arena 4 were unavailable for this match and unsuitable for Sky television broadcast. He wanted to fill the space, which typically hosts a national premiership pre-season netball event, with 600 to 700 spectators.

Current Form

The Bulls were scheduled to face the Taranaki Mountain Airs on Wednesday night before facing the Jets once again on Thursday, but Taufale still anticipated a challenging game because Tall Black Corey Webster had joined them in the middle of the season. In Auckland, they defeated the Bulls 84–76 in the opening round. They won’t be the same club we faced in early June, according to Taufale. “Corey will help them operate various distinct operations. He is a player who has the ability to prevail on his own. We must take the utmost care of him. We have been putting a lot of effort into our defense in particular and how we will protect them. Hopefully, we’ve done a good job with the scouting and our men will swiftly adjust.

Anticipated Winner

Last week, the Taranaki Mountain Airs defeated the Palmerston North Jets 131-100 while the Palmerston North Jets defeated the Bay Hawks 90-87. The Jets have improved since their sluggish start to the year and are still vying for a postseason place, but they still need to put together a couple of victories. With five victories and seven defeats, the Jets stand ninth but are only two points below the top six. A Jets victory may help them move up the standings as the Bulls are only one win behind them. They are at full strength, although 17-year-old striker Lukah Richards, who is from Tahiti, is out with a leg injury.
