The Indiana Fever will head to the Gateway Center Arena for a WNBA matchup against the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday, August 4th. Both these teams are coming into the encounter on the back of a series of losses in their previous games.
The Fever have lost 14 games in a row and are pretty much out of the playoff race. Their last game was against the Las Vegas Aces. The team lost 94-69 as their offense never really got going right from the very start. Las Vegas dominated every quarter of the game and made it difficult for the Fever. NaLyssa Smith scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the team from Indiana. Destanni Henerson racked up 16 points, but neither of their efforts was enough to stop the Fever from losing. Although the team is out of playoff contention, they will be looking to bag a few wins to spoil the party for other teams. This could very well be a game that the Fever could win as their opponents are the Atlanta Dream who are also struggling.
The team’s last game was against the Dallas Wings and they suffered an 81-68 loss there. On a night where Rhyne Howard scored 22 points, no other player from the Dream seemed to get going. Cheyenne Parker and Aarion McDonald added 25 points, but that did not stop the Wings from dominantly winning the game. Atlanta had a poor first quarter but tried to pull things back in the second. However, the Wings were a little too determined and that helped them hand the Dream their fourth straight loss. The team from Atlanta are tenth on the table and with a few games left for the end of the regular season, they will have to make a strong push, if they are to reach the playoffs.
Kelsey Mitchell has been ruled out of this game for the Indiana Fever. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Dream will be without Tiffany Hayes, Nia Coffey, Monique Billings and AD Durr, who are all ruled out due to injuries.
