The Dallas Wings will head to the Gateway Center Arena for a matchup against the Atlanta Dream on July 30. Both these teams are coming off disappointing defeats in their previous games.
The Wings lost their last matchup, against a talented Washington Mystics team. Despite the defeat, Teaira McCowan put on a show and racked up 27 points and 11 boards on the night. Arike Ogunbowale also chipped in with 19 points and 6 rebounds. However, neither of their performances proved to be enough to stop the Mystics. The team from Washington had their grip on the game right from tip-off. Even though it seemed like the Wings were trying to force a comeback in the second half, the Mystics held strong ground to walk out with an 87-77 win.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Dream were matched up against the Minnesota Lynx. Tiffany Hayes scored 24 points for them to lead the way. Rhyne Howard and Cheyenne Parker made an impact with 18 and 16 points respectively. However, that wasn’t enough to prevent a 92-85 loss on the night. The Dream looked really good in the fourth quarter and scored 40 points, but the Lynx had done enough to win the game by then. Aerial Powers scored 25 points for them. Her brilliance helped the team to get to a stellar win and hand the Dream their third consecutive defeat.
The Wings have reported Nia Coffey and Monique Billings to be doubtful for the game on Saturday. AD Durr is ruled out for the season as she is expected to undergo a hip surgery. Meanwhile, for the Wings, Awak Kuier is listed as questionable due to an ankle injury. Satou Sabally is the only player that will be missing out on the game against the Wings.
