Club Sayago vs Cordón El Metro Championship game will be held on September 13, i.e on Tuesday at Antel Arena. The Uruguayan Federation started getting ready for the game just over two months before the 2022/2023 Uruguayan Basketball League started. In a conversation with Ovación, Ricardo Vairo, the organization’s president, provided details about this new edition: “The League is scheduled to start on Tuesday, October 20, this year it will start a little later, we are working and we have the expectation of further growth, the format would be the same as last year, and it is a very special league also because it is the twentieth edition, so we are going to do some events to try to celebrate it,” he said.
Vairo continued, “We will continue to work with both the federation and the clubs with great bravery and power to create a very excellent league. The majority of the teams are already armed at the level of national files and even already have their foreigners verified. The regular phase of the competition will consist of two rounds in which the teams will compete against one another. The top four seeds will advance to the competition’s quarterfinals, while those who position fifth through twelfth will compete in the play-in round to determine four playoff spots. The two clubs who place worst in each division will compete in the Metropolitan Tournament. In another order, in response to a question on the festivities the League has planned to mark its 20th anniversary, Vairo said: “We are starting to work on things, undoubtedly we will have a launch event and a League draw that is a bit unique, but we are going to define it.”
