The Centauros will go against Trotamundos in the Venezuela SuperLiga match on October 9. Team Centauros de Portuguesa fought back with Trotamundos de Carabobo, after winning this Thursday night (63-65) and leveling the final series of the Western Conference of the Professional Basketball Super League (SPB). In a game of many collisions, Douglas Rondón finally leaned in the Portuguese’s favor, as he raced “coast” to score into the basket during the thrilling seconds of the match.
Though Rondón became the hero, it was Dominican Jonathan Araujo who stood out the game, scoring a brace with 19 points and 16 rebounds in nearly 34 minutes of the game (33:18). In a post-match interview on the national television channel Televen, Araujo said that bringing the series to a 1-1 draw at home was “a huge thing”. “The public has always encouraged us and we have plenty of opportunities to get some wins,” he insisted. On Sunday, Centauros and Trotamundos will meet at Lara Figueroa Arena for game 3 of the Western Conference Finals. Wednesday at Parque Miranda.

The Western champions ultimately prevailed in five games, despite the series being very close to the capital. The Broncos, knowing there was no tomorrow, dominated the field positively and even dominated the first two sets to reach halftime with a 52-43 lead. The third inning was perhaps the most intense and although Centauros took the lead by two points (25-23), the Broncos went to the final 10 minutes with a 75-68 lead. However, once again Manuel Berroterán’s men failed to end the game well and Centauros took advantage of their mistakes to deliver a knockout blow.
