Brazil vs Venezuela FIBA South American Championship Women’s match will be held on August 5. The Brazil Basketball Confederation announced on Saturday that Iowa State forward Stephanie Soares, who is 6 feet 6 inches tall, has been selected for the Brazil Women’s Basketball National Team. Soares and Brazil will participate in the FIBA South American Women’s Championship from August 1 to August 6 in Argentina. Soares received her fourth invitation to the Senior National Team; she was a member of the group that participated in FIBA World Cup Qualifying in February. Additionally, she represented Brazil in the 2019 Olympic Pre-Qualifying Americas Tournament and the 2018 South American Women’s Championship.

Soares moved to Iowa State after competing for The Master’s University, an NAIA school in Santa Clarita, California, for three seasons. She twice received the NAIA Player of the Year honor and was named to the first team of All-Americans three times. Her 20.5 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game average helped her team conclude the 2021–22 season with a 32-4 record and get to the NAIA Championship quarterfinals. Brazil will compete in five games over the course of the six-day tournament, beginning on Monday at 4:30 p.m. against Colombia in the group round. After that, they face Chile at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Uruguay at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
