The Atlanta Dream will head to the Michelob Ultra Arena for their WNBA matchup against the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday, August 9th. The Dream are coming into the encounter after a disappointing loss to the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday.
Rhyne Howard and Aarion McDonald added 16 points each for the team from Atlanta. Cheyenne Parker scored 10 points and also chipped in with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Naz Hillmon and Maya Caldwell scored also added 10 points, but neither of those efforts proved to be helpful. The Lynx were a little too determined on the night. Led by Kayla McBride’s 20-point performance, the team from Minnesota powered their way through a stellar 81-71 win on the night. This loss ended Dream’s two-game winning streak. They are now seventh on the WNBA table. However, with just three games left, they cannot afford a setback as it will push back their chances of making the playoffs.
Meanwhile, their opponents for the next game are an Aces team that is coming off an 89-81 win against the Seattle Storm on Sunday. A’ja Wilson continued her run of brilliance with yet another display of talent, where she scored 29 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in just 34 minutes. Kelsey Plum also added 16 points the night for the team from Las Vegas. Jackie Young and Chelsea Gray also proved to be impactful for the Aces as they chipped in with 15 points each to ease things for the Aces. The team have already booked their place in the playoffs. But they will be looking to bag a few more wins as it will help boost their confidence in the postseason.
The Atlanta Dream are a side that have been plagued by injuries this season. Heading into this game they will be without Nia Coffey and AD Durr, who have both been ruled out of the season due to injuries. The likes of Tiffany Hayes, Monique Billings and Kristy Wallace have all been reported to be doubtful for the game. The Aces will have all their players available for selection.
