San Miguel Beerman will face Anyang in the EASL championships. Based in Anyang Arena in the city of Anyang, the Anyang Korea Ginseng Corporation, or Anyang KGC, is a professional basketball team in the Korean Basketball League. Three KBL championships have been won by the club: in 2011–12, 2016–17, and 2020–21. The amateur basketball team founded by Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS) in 1992 is whence Anyang KGC gets its name. It was one of a number of basketball teams founded by corporations in an effort to profit on the “basketball craze” that existed in the early to mid-1990s. Prior to 1997, domestic basketball was an amateur sport, and the National Basketball Festival tournament was open to all teams, regardless of whether they were sponsored by corporations or universities.
In the Philippine Basketball Association, there is a professional basketball team called the San Miguel Beermen (PBA). It, the Magnolia Hotshots, and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel are three PBA teams owned by the San Miguel Corporation group of businesses. It is the only surviving original franchise in the league and has had the greatest level of success in PBA history. The Beermen have more victories overall (more than 1,200) and the most championships (28). It also won the Grand Slam in 1989, as well as the Perpetual Jun Bernardino Trophy after winning three consecutive PBA Philippine Cups from 2015 to 2017.
