Melbourne will go against Perth in the Australia ABL on November 17 at Melbourne Ballpark. With an outright series victory against the Adelaide Giants, the Perth Heat have made their intentions clear to start their Australian Baseball League season. Despite dropping their first game of the year 5-4 on Friday night at Empire Ballpark, the Heat bounced back to remarkably win the following three games. Over the course of their last three games, they outscored Adelaide 28-4, winning games 5-0 and 13-0 on Saturday before rallying from behind to win game 4 on Sunday, which was crucial, by a score of 10-4.
Perth came back on Saturday determined to make up for losing game one on Friday, which Adelaide won due to a two-run ninth inning. Game two saw five strikeouts from ex-Giants pitcher Gunnar Kines, a three-run effort from Tim Kennelly in the third, and singles from newly arrived stars Josh Reddick and Alex Hall in the fifth. Thanks in part to a five-run fifth inning and a four-run eighth, game three was a one-sided affair, with Junior Caminero of the Tampa Bay Rays establishing his dominance with two huge home runs.

Adelaide got out to a quick start in game four with a three-run opening inning stand in an effort to retaliate and grab a share of the series victory on Sunday. However, Perth answered back with four runs in the second inning. However, Alex Hall’s two doubles in the fifth and sixth innings turned the game in the Heat’s favour. The pitchers were able to fend off the early hits by allowing only one run over the course of the last five innings.
