Argentina will take on Nicaragua in the World Baseball Classic match on October 4 at Estadio Nacional Rod Carew, Panama City. The Pakistani squad was busy playing their opening World Baseball Classic (WBC) Qualifiers match while the majority of Pakistan was sleeping early on Saturday morning. Pakistan’s squad made a valiant attempt at the Rod Carew National Stadium in Panama City despite losing their first game against Argentina 7-4. Additionally, this became Pakistan’s first run in WBC history. Argentina scored four runs in the sixth inning to turn the tide against Pakistan, who had a strong start to the game and had a 2-1 lead at one point. With a few runs in the ninth inning, Pakistan attempted to rally, but the situation did not change in their favor.

Pakistan recorded 12 hits in the game compared to Argentina’s 10, however, their 4 errors lost them the game because just one was committed by the South American team. After the game, Pakistani coach Rafique Choudhury, commonly known as Coach Raf, expressed his pride in his squad in an interview with SAMAA Digital. “The squad from Pakistan made a valiant attempt. Overall, the pitching and hitting were excellent, according to Rafique. They performed a fantastic job, and Pakistanis should be really proud of themselves. Rafique was further amazed by the Pakistani players who stood up for the team despite not even having a good baseball field at home. Rafique further asserted that if the Pakistani squad had had more time to practice as a unit prior to the game versus Argentina, the outcome would have been different.
