Hamish Kerr is a high jumper from New Zealand who has achieved notable success in his career. He clinched the top spot at the Commonwealth Games 2022 and won the bronze medal at the 2022 World Indoor Championships. Kerr is also the record holder for the high jump event indoors in Oceania and also maintains the outdoor record for New Zealand.

In June of 2019, Kerr reached a significant milestone in his career, tying the national record by leaping 2.30 meters and securing a gold medal at the Oceania Athletics Championships in Townsville. His success continued as he took part in the Universiade in Naples, Italy the following month, and later the World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar in October.
In 2021, Kerr set a new national record with a jump of 2.31 meters at Newtown Park Stadium, Wellington. Subsequently, he placed 10th in the men’s high jump final at the deferred 2020 Tokyo Olympics with a leap of 2.30 meters. Kerr’s journey continued in 2022 when he competed at the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.
He surpassed Roger Te Puni’s 39-year-old New Zealand indoor record of 2.16 meters, jumping 2.31 meters to win a bronze medal, equal with Gianmarco Tamberi. Kerr again showcased his skills at the Oceania Athletics Championships later that year, leaping 2.24 meters to secure the win.
Later in August, he took gold at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham with a jump of 2.25 meters. Finally, in February 2023 at the Banskobystricka latka in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, Kerr achieved an outright personal best and broke Tim Forsyth’s Oceanian indoor record from 1997, reaching a height of 2.34 meters.
