Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling

On December 23, 2005, O’Reilly participated in the NWA: Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling (ECCW) television tapings. In June 2007, O’Reilly competed in the Pacific Cup event, where he defeated Tony Kozina and Scotty Mac in the final. O’Reilly defeated Ice to win the NWA Canadian Junior Heavyweight Championship on July 21. O’Reilly tried unsuccessfully to win the Pacific Cup for the second year in a row in 2008. In April 2009, O’Reilly and 19 other wrestlers competed in the ECCW’s Wrestling With Hunger marathon show, wrestling over 40 matches in 72 hours to benefit a local food bank. On January 14, 2017, O’Reilly returned to ECCW for Ballroom Brawl 7, where he beat El Phantasmo for the ECCW Championship. He vacated the championship 49 days later to guarantee the ECCW had a fighting champion while he considered his options.

ROH career

After working in various indie promotions Kyle O’Riley signed with ROH. In 2009, O’Reilly made his Ring of Honour (ROH) début. O’Reilly then proceeded to join up with fellow ROH rookie Adam Cole, establishing a tag team. ROH announced on July 25 that O’Reilly had re-signed with the promotion. The tag combo of O’Reilly and Cole was christened Future Shock at the Ring of Honour Wrestling tapings on August 13. Future Shock dissolved at the Ring of Honour Wrestling tapings on January 7, 2012, and O’Reilly established a new tag team called Team Ambition with Davey Richards, opposing Adam Cole and Eddie Edwards.

O’Reilly met Cole on March 31 at Showdown in the Sun and beat him using an underhanded strategy. O’Reilly was beaten by Cole in a “Hybrid Rules” match on June 24 at Best in the World 2012: Hostage Crisis. Following that, O’Reilly smacked Cole as he attempted to reconcile with his old partner and subsequently claimed that he was now going after Richards, solidifying his heel turn.

O’Reilly and Fish won the ROH World Tag Team Championship from the Briscoe Brothers. On July 27, they lost the championship to the Forever Hooligans (Alex Koslov and Rocky Romero) but reclaimed it on August 17 from the American Wolves. Over the next few months, reDRagon successfully defended its title. The Young Bucks defeated reDRagon for the championship on March 8, 2014. On May 17, at the ROH and New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) co-promoted pay-per-view War of the Worlds, ReDRagon reclaimed the tag team championship from The Young Bucks.

On April 4, O’Reilly and Fish were defeated by The Addiction in the Ring of Honour Wrestling tapings. O’Reilly was given a shot at the ROH World Championship at All-Star Extravaganza VII on September 18, 2015, but was beaten after Adam Cole turned on him. O’Reilly made his return on August 19, 2016, at Death Before Dishonour XIV, unexpectedly interrupting Cole’s victory celebration as the two-time ROH World Champion by assaulting him, reigniting their feud. O’Reilly defeated Cole at Final Battle on December 2 to capture the ROH World Championship for the first time.

NJPW career

reDRagon made a debut for NJPW through ROH’s partnership on August 10, unsuccessfully challenging Time Splitters (Alex Shelley and Kushida) for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. On October 25, reDRagon returned to NJPW to compete in the 2014 Super Jr. Tag Tournament.

The event was won by reDRagon, who defeated The Young Bucks in the finals on November 3. reDRagon defeated Time Splitters in a rematch five days later at Power Struggle to become the new IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. They successfully defended their championship for the first time on January 4, 2015, at Wrestle Kingdom 9 in Tokyo Dome, in a four-way match against Forever Hooligans, Time Splitters, and The Young Bucks.

reDRagon lost the championship to The Young Bucks in a three-way match at The New Beginning in Osaka on February 11, also including Time Splitters. reDRagon returned to NJPW on May 3 at Wrestling Dontaku 2015, where they competed in a three-way match against Roppongi Vice (Beretta and Rocky Romero) and The Young Bucks for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. O’Reilly competed in the 2015 Best of the Super Juniors later that month.

He won his block and went to the tournament finals with a record of six victories and one defeat. Kushida beat O’Reilly in the tournament finals on June 7. Following the tournament, reDRagon was given a rematch for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship in a three-way match with Roppongi Vice but were beaten by The Young Bucks again on July 5 at Dominion 7.5 in Osaka-jo Hall.

On August 16, reDRagon defeated The Young Bucks for the second time to capture the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. On January 4, 2016, at Wrestle Kingdom 10 in Tokyo Dome, they lost the championship to The Young Bucks in a four-way match that also involved Roppongi Vice, Matt Sydal, and Ricochet. O’Reilly had his first singles championship chance in NJPW on October 10 at King of Pro-Wrestling, when he unsuccessfully challenged Katsuyori Shibata for the NEVER Openweight Championship. O’Reilly lost the ROH World Championship to Adam Cole at Wrestle Kingdom 11.

WWE Career

O’Reilly made his WWE NXT debut on July 12, 2017, at the NXT television tapings, which aired on August 2, losing to Aleister Black. O’Reilly and Bobby Fish assaulted Sanity after they won the NXT Tag Team Championship against The Authors of Pain at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III. Later that night, they assaulted newly crowned NXT Champion Drew McIntyre, who was joined by newcomer Adam Cole, who turned heel in the process. The triumvirate of O’Reilly, Cole, and Fish was called The Undisputed Era the following month.

O’Reilly and Fish beat Tyler Bate and Trent Seven on the September 20 edition of NXT due to Adam Cole’s intervention. The Undisputed Era stepped out and clapped Roderick Strong on the back after his match with Drew McIntyre on the October 4 program. The Undisputed Era presented Roderick Strong with an Undisputed Era wristband on the October 25 program, with Cole reminding Strong that he is “not a loser” and offered him a spot in their organization. The Undisputed Era assaulted both SAnitY and The Authors of Pain during their match on the November 1 broadcast, and it was confirmed that The Undisputed Era will be engaged in the WarGames bout at NXT TakeOver: WarGames.

O’Reilly and Fish disrupted Roderick Strong vs. Adam Cole on NXT on November 8, resulting in a big brawl among the WarGames teams. The Undisputed Era beat SAnitY and the team of Roderick Strong and The Authors Of Pain at TakeOver: WarGames to win the first War Games match in almost 17 years. O’Reilly and Fish won the NXT Tag Team Championship on the December 20 edition of NXT.

The Undisputed Era beat The Authors of Pain to retain the belts at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia. The Undisputed Era beat Roderick Strong, Pete Dunne, and The Authors of Pain at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans to retain the championships and win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic when Strong turned on his partner and joined The Undisputed Era.

Fish and O’Reilly later challenged The Street Profits for the championships at NXT TakeOver: Toronto on August 10, but were defeated. However, on the August 16 NXT tapings, O’Reilly and Fish ultimately beat The Street Profits for the NXT Tag Team Championship. O’Reilly and Fish would go on to win the NXT Tag Team Titles for several months before losing them to the BroserWeights (Pete Dunne and Matt Riddle) on February 16, 2020, at NXT Takeover: Portland.

Following this, O’Reilly ceased appearing on television with Undisputed Era and only appeared in pre-recorded portions since he refused to compete during the COVID-19 pandemic because of his diabetes problem. On the August 5 edition of NXT, he and Fish challenged Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner of Imperium for the NXT Tag Team Championship but were unsuccessful.

After failing to capture the championship, O’Reilly renewed his feud with Cole, and a rematch was scheduled for The Great American Bash, in which O’Reilly was beaten by Cole. He feuded with Cole until he defeated him at NXT TakeOver 36, therefore ending the feud. After his battle with Cole ended, O’Reilly formed an uneasy alliance with newcomer Von Wagner, who assisted him in repelling an onslaught by Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland.

O’Reilly and Wagner teamed up to defeat Dunne and Holland on the October 12 edition of NXT 2.0. Soon after declaring their aspirations for the NXT Tag Team Championship, they defeated Joaquin Wilde and Raul Mendoza on the November 30 program to become the number one contenders. O’Reilly and Wagner battled the defending champions Imperium in a losing effort at NXT WarGames, and after the match, Wagner attempted to attack O’Reilly, but O’Reilly countered his assault.

On the next edition of NXT 2.0, O’Reilly faced Wagner in a steel cage match but was beaten and had his skull repeatedly battered with the steel cage door by Wagner after the bout. O’Reilly’s WWE contract expired on December 10 and he elected not to extend it, therefore this would be his final appearance in NXT.

AEW Career

On December 22, 2021, O’Reilly made his All Elite Wrestling (AEW) debut at the special Holiday Bash episode of Dynamite, attacking Orange Cassidy during his match with Adam Cole, allowing Cole to win, and reuniting with Cole and Bobby Fish after the match. They subsequently joined forces with the Young Bucks to become the Undisputed Elite. After eliminating Matt Jackson on the February 23, 2022 episode of Dynamite, reDRagon (O’Reilly and Fish) would win a 10-team battle royal to earn a spot in the Triple Threat match for the AEW Tag Team Championship at AEW Revolution.

The match would be lost by ReDRagon. O’Reilly announced on May 23, 2022, that he had signed a five-year contract with AEW. O’Reilly competed in the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament in May 2022 until he was eliminated by Samoa Joe in a quarterfinal match on Dynamite on May 25. On the June 8th episode of Dynamite, O’Reilly won a Casino Battle Royal to meet Jon Moxley in the show’s main event for a chance to win the interim AEW World Heavyweight Championship, however, he was defeated by Moxley. Adam Cole and ReDragon turned on the Young Bucks on the August 3rd edition of AEW Dynamite.
