100 Thieves worth: Esports organization raises $60 million funding

100 Thieves, the North American esports organization has secured $60 million funding from its Series C financing round. The round was led by Green Bay Ventures with support from old and new investors including Willoughby Capital, Breyer Capital, Aglae Ventures, Tao Capital, and others. As per the release, the investment has taken 100 Thieves’ worth to around $460 million.

The financial round comes after a successful series B round from 2019 where 100 Thieves raised $35 million. The company currently fields teams in several esports games including League of Legends and Valorant. Besides, the company also has a content creation team that features streamers and co-owners.

“Our performance in 2021 exceeded all of my expectations. We have delivered on our core promise of elevating gaming culture while building a strong business and brand for the long term,” said Matthew ‘Nadeshot’ Haag, Founder and CEO of 100 Thieves. “100 Thieves now has the capital to launch and acquire new companies that I know our community will love.”

The news follows a successful year for the organization that witnessed partnerships with Lil Nas X and Lexus as well as taking over peripheral brand Higround. 100 Thieves said in a release at the time that the financial boost will come in handy to ‘support the rapid growth of 100 Thieves core esports, entertainment, and apparel businesses’ as well as back new projects.

Speaking of esports, the industry has seen several milestones in 2021. Now, American educational institution Pace University has announced the launch of its first esports program. The program will start in January 2022. Additionally, the university has detailed the development of a dedicated esports and gaming center on its campus.

As a part of the new program, there will be teams in a number of esports titles such as League of Legends, Super Smash Bros, and Valorant. The program will also be the 15th sport for the Pace Athletics division at Pace University.
